¿Y ahora qué?
Join Alianza Por Puerto Rico and supporting organizations for a meeting this coming Wednesday, November 1 at 5:30pm at Old South Church 645 Boylston St near Copley Square.
This meeting is a follow to the meeting held at IBA.
As follow up, on November 1, El Día de los Santos, we meet to discuss and plan organizing efforts by Boricuas in the Diaspora in service of Puerto Rico and all of its people, on the island and the Diaspora. We will dedicate part of the meeting agenda to offer updates on recent local efforts as well as work in committees, many of which you have already signed up for. Come prepare to think together, learn together and support each other.
We know this is a long term commitment and that nuestra gente need us to continue to push for the recovery of Puerto Rico. Since September 20 our lives are not the same and the Puerto Rican Diaspora has become a fundamental factor in what still feels like baby steps towards the recovery of our island. Many of us have supported decentralized relief efforts because they have proved more effective than FEMA, the government and other traditional channels. As we enter the fifth week post Maria, we know there is still a lot of work to be done for Puerto Rico. To date, the “official” number of deaths associated with Maria only amounts to 49, yet we all know that is not the real number. The horror stories of how many people continue to die of neglect and inefficient relief work continue to surface daily. We must remain alert in the recovery of Puerto Rico.
If you have questions, want to volunteer, at the meeting, or co-sponsor the event please contact Ivys, Myriam, Melissa, Victoria, Jovanna or Otoniel who are listed as co-hosts.
