Lately the guards have been under attack by the oppressive management at the Museum. The Museum is trying every which way possible to crush and control the Union and its members. One employee, Carlos Oviedo, who has worked as a guard at the MFA for over 17 years, was just fired for arriving 2 minutes late to work due to unpredictable delays on the MBTA. Also, there was a recent potential asbestos disturbance within the Museum and guards were never informed about it. The guards are also responsible for walking through the areas in which the potential asbestos was supposedly exposed. The guards who have been in contact with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have received multiple disciplines for non-issues since they met with the OSHA investigator. This needs to end.
Come out and support MISU as we fight for justice in the workplace of the MFA!
REINSTATE CARLOS OVIEDO. WE DEMAND JUSTICE FOR THE GUARDS, AND TO END RETALIATION.
