Join members of the Pokanoket Nation and allies for a peaceful vigil outside of the President’s House at Brown University. The house is home to current Brown President Chistina Paxson.
We will be there to urge Brown University to swiftly give back the land of Potumtuk (also known as Mt. Hope) to the Pokanoket Nation. We will also be urging the University to allow the Pokanokets to maintain a cultural presence at Potumtuk while logistics of returning back the land are worked out.
In recent weeks Brown University has demanded that the Pokanokets leave their sacred spiritual lands in order for negotiations to continue. But the Pokanokets continue to #StandFirm.
The Po Metacom Camp was established on August 20th by the Pokanoket Nation to reclaim 400 acres of sacred land from Brown Unversity. The encampent is now nearing its 40th day.
If you are unable to make it to the vigil, please email and call President Paxson and let her know that you support the #PoMetaomcCamp: (401) 863-2234, [email protected]
