Speakout and March against Slavery in Libya! @ Massachusetts State House | Boston | MA | United States

Following the 2011 NATO backed civil war in Libya that illegally ousted the former President of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi, the country has been thrown into statelessness and utter chaos. Libya was once Africa’s most prosperous nation. Now, the country is struggling with the re-introduction of outright chattel slavery.

The big imperialist powers – the U.S., Great Britain, France, – along with their junior partners and loyal watchdog states in the Middle East (Saudi Arabia & Israel) waged an illegal and neo-colonialist war based on several falsehoods. Ironically, the same outlet that was beating the drums of war in 2011 in jubilant support for the “regime change” operation carried out under the guise of a “revolution” coordinated with NATO. Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama as well as the entire U.S. imperialist system are the cause of the slavery we see in Libya today. It was their callousness that spearheaded this assault and it was the logic of the imperialist system to destroy all independent sovereign nations that could challenge European and American hegemony in the region.

The U.S. military industrial complex has its eyes on other nations like Iran and North Korea, they too face the destruction that Libya has. But, history has shown that all oppression is not inevitable and with struggle the people can overcome. The ANSWER coalition held several demonstrations against the predatory war on Libya in 2011 and today we are continuing in our work for solidarity with Libya as they deal with the consequences of “our” government’s heinous actions.

In France and Sweden and right in Libya people are raising their voices, fighting back, and asking questions that point to the root of this catastrophe: what started this horrible state of affairs and how can we end it? Join the ANSWER coalition on this day as we gather to denounce war, colonialism, imperialism, and the politicians that have African blood on their hand for backing such a predatory and disgusting war. The organizers of color, particularly our Black organizers are making a particular call to all children of the African Diaspora to turn out for this event as we denounce, mourn, hold community, heal, and most importantly fight for collective liberation. Libya was a nation that sought to build Pan-African unity, we honor the cause of African unity and self-determination in the face of fascist and imperialist onslaught.

The struggle against slavery knows no borders! We need an anti-racist and anti-imperialist front to demand an end to slavery in the U.S. via the prison industrial complex and the unending predatory genocidal wars on the people of the world via the military industrial complex.

Imperialists Hands Off Libya!
Libya Needs Reparations not Tears!
U.S. War Criminals should be prosecuted!
Dismantle NATO!
Money for jobs, schools, healthcare, housing, not for Wall St. & Pentagon greedy corporate interests!
