Several households at 26 School St. in Egleston Square have been struggling to stay in their homes for about 1.5 years. Recently, City Realty purchased these homes, and several of the families are unable to pay the corporation’s proposed rent increase. The tenants have offered to pay more, a $250 increase on average, but the landlord’s asking for $500 more. The tenants need an increase that’s reasonable and sustainable, not more than 30% of their income, in order to have stable housing. Two families have already received eviction notices, but TOGETHER, WE’LL SUPPORT THEM – when we fight, we win! Rise up for housing justice!
