Join the Pokanoket Nation for a march to reclaim the sacred land of Potumtuk (also known as Mt. Hope in Bristol, RI). On August 20th the Pokanoket Nation established the Po Metacom Camp at Potumtuk with a demand that Brown University fully return the land to them.

We will be gathering at 12:30pm at Brown Street Park in Providence before marching towards Brown University’s annual convocation ceremony which they hold for the incoming freshmxn class.

Potumtuk is the spiritual high ground of the Pokanoket Nation and was also the site where Po Metacom, who led the Pokanokets in their fierce revolt against the colonizers, was slain and beheaded. Brown University has had control of the land since it was donated to them by the Haffenreffer family in the 1950s.

Join us for this peaceful demonstration to reclaim the land. Many more details will be posted soon. In the meantime please register for the march here: https://goo.gl/forms/2LAsTGo6XpckAEuy1
