Trump and his reactionary agenda are a clear and present danger to the the working class and other oppressed communities. The attacks on immigrants, the environment, women, queer people, people of color and the people of oppressed nations and other sweeping assaults cannot be countered by select individuals, but demand a united resistance by the broad masses of people.
While we condemn all the actions of the Trump administration thus far, we must continue to build a movement outside of the two party system. We don’t need to look too far as Marty Walsh, the Democratic mayor of Boston, denounced a white supremacist rally planned under the guise of free speech while granting them a permit to occupy the Parkman Bandstand. The contradictions run deeper as another annual budget was announced earlier this year with drastic cuts to public schools in working-class neighborhoods, affecting brown and black youth the most in areas like Dorchester and Mattapan.
The People’s Congress of Resistance will chart a path of nationwide grassroots resistance and mobilization to defeat Trump’s reactionary program of unrestrained capitalism. This path will draw on the experiences of the community organizations, amplifying the voices and spreading the tactics of those who are already fighting back to defend their communities.
PCoR will project its own platform and vision of what America should be if it is to be a society truly devoted to fundamental social and political rights. That is a society that places political and economic power in the hands of “We, The People” rather than the plutocrats. Each individual needs not just the right to vote for politicians who serve the rich, but the rights to a job or basic income, health care, housing and education.
The People’s Congress of Resistance Supports:
Meeting Social Needs and Securing the Means of Life (health, food, shelter, education)
