Come out for camaraderie, food, drink and penal abolition! We invite you to come out to a fundraiser for the International Conference on Penal Abolition that is taking place in New Bedford, MA July 26-29, 2017. We are fundraising to ensure that as many formerly incarcerated people can have their travel covered.
Featuring guest Monica James: Collective Member at Transformative Justice Leadership Project; National Organizer for Black and Pink.
BIO: Monica James, formerly incarcerated woman of color has spent on-off 20 years of her life behind prison walls and found her strength to talk about the horrors of solitary confinement, physical and sexual violence, cruel and unusual punishment through the support of a close knitted collective of radicals at TJLP, back in 2009. Since then, this woman has become a household name to many, as she continues to reinvent herself and while playing a key role to dismantle prisons and, police and state violence as it applies to targeted vulnerable groups of people.
