DACA renewal application clinic

Since 2012, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program has transformed the lives of nearly 800,000 young people – including nearly 8,000 Massachusetts residents – enabling them to study, work and fully participate in their communities. Now the Trump administration is ending DACA, but with a six-month delay.

DACA beneficiaries whose work authorization expires between Sept. 5 and March 5 have until Oct. 5 to apply to renew their DACA for two more years. As part of a statewide mobilization to help Dreamers keep their benefits as long as possible, MIRA is hosting two legal clinics to help with DACA renewal applications. This is the second clinic.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR HELP, or know someone who is, please call 617-350-5480 x200 and leave a message saying you want to register for the DACA clinic. We’ll call you back.

VOLUNTEERS: Guided by MIRA staff, volunteers will help us 1) welcome and register applicants; 2) make sure applicants qualify and have all the required materials; 3) complete applications; and 4) do quality control. Legal training or experience are not required, but they are very helpful. Speaking a second language is also helpful.

We realize this is a long day, but because clients will be coming in steadily, it’s hard to break up into shifts. We’ll provide lunch, and everyone will get an hour’s break. We may also be able to accommodate your schedule; please email [email protected] with the subject “DACA clinic volunteer” with questions.

IMPORTANT: We will provide advance training for volunteers on Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 5:30 to 7pm or Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 5:30 to 7pm at MIRA, 105 Chauncy St., Boston. Please click on “Get Tickets” to register on EventBrite so we have all the info we need!
