Bomba Dance Bootcamp in Boston!

December 8, 2017 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Spontaneous Celebrations
45 Danforth St

Raíces Borikén Collective

This bootcamp, led by Eli Pabon Lady Enchantress and Darlene Flores will explore Bomba, an afro-puertorican music and dance form that stems back to the beginning of the colonization of Puerto Rico. Evolving through centuries, it was originally created by the merging of Taino/Arawak Native peoples of the island, enslaved Africans brought to the island, and the Spanish that sailed there during the 16th and 17th Century. Today Bomba is being reclaimed by DiaspoRicans in various cities accross North America as well as on the island. Join us in Boston to continue this movement to reclaim our TRUE history so that we can imagine a better future together… You don’t have to be Puerto Rican to participate – we encourage all ages, ethnicities, identities and ages to join us.

Presented in collaboration with BOMBAntillana and Raíces Borikén Collective, this Bomba Dance Bootcamp is open to anyone and everyone curious about learning Bomba dance through it’s origins, songs and movements. It’s very welcome to experienced Bomba dancers as well.

Cost: $20 for adults and $7 for youth ages 17 and under (group discounts available – send private message to Eli Pabon Lady Enchantress directly).
Cash, Checks and Venmo payments accepted @ladyelipabon

Some of the proceeds will support the Decolonize Puerto Rico: March and Rally which we hope Bootcamp participants will join us at!
