This Urbano event is a special presentation of the data that the “Artivism in Egleston” class has collected through our participatory action research on art and gentrification. Using a combination of surveys, focus groups, and maps, we studied diverse perspectives on the role of art in Egleston and beyond. Our presentation will include data visualization through mapping, showcases of individual students’ artwork, and participatory poetry. Everyone interested in this topic is invited to join us in identifying key issues, tackling the root causes of problems, and sharing knowledge from the different communities of which we are part. We hope to create a space where people feel safe to express their thoughts and feelings, and get inspired to work together and boost the anti-displacement movements happening here.
