Experience how locally-oriented artists use expression to inform their activism and empower their communities. Panelists and performers include Oompa, a Boston-born artist and organizer who is the winner of the 2017 Women of the World Poetry Slam and whose album “Nov. 3” was named one of Dig Boston’s Top 30 Local Albums of 2016, Mohamed Tall, Baltimore City’s current Youth Poet Laureate who believes art is at the forefront of every revolution, and Muna Ahmed, a visual storyteller based in Los Angeles whose passion for photography and film lies in her pursuit to create cultural awareness and understanding. This event will includes brief performances from the artists, a panel in which artists can discuss how their artistry relates to changemaking efforts, and a reception for panelists and students afterwards.
