2018 NOFA/Mass Winter Conference

January 13, 2018 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Worcester State University
486 Chandler St
MA 01602

This year’s theme is Cover, Diversity, Regenerate. Degraded soils can be restored by promoting the biological function of the soil ecosystem, which can be accomplished through living plant cover, mulches, and smart farm systems which reduce soil disturbance and enhance ecological diversity.

We will explore what the food producing and food activist community can learn from agroecology, permaculture and pioneering growers like our keynoter, Gabe Brown, an internationally-recognized regenerative farmer with knowledge we all need to build our soils and to collectively contribute to global carbon sequestration.

The conference features more than 60 workshop sessions, organic networking meals and trade show, a youth conference and more! One of our most robust workshop tracks will spotlight the efforts of grassroots organizations working towards a just Northeast food system. In our Equity in the Food System track, presenters from a broad array of food justice organizations will tell stories and teach strategies addressing access to food and farmland for all.

Other workshops highlights include: mushroom cultivation, healthy cooking, No Till cover crops, homesteading, health, controversies over organic standards. Browse more than 60 sessions: https://www.nofamass.org/content/2018-workshops-track
